I went to Menchie's frozen yogurt at Ward Warehouse for the first time tonight. They had eggnog yogurt! ^-^ So yummy!

I only had the eggnog, so I wasn't really able to tell any difference in the quality of their yogurt, but they do have some pluses over Yogurt Land: more parking, you can help yourself to sample cups, no sugar added flavors, and a wider variety of toppings.

I want eggnog... T-T

I've got the draft of my completed paper done. From cover page through the references, the entirety covers 68 pages. I think I might have forgotten a figure, though, so that will add another page. To be honest, it's not as great a paper as I had originally hoped for, but I really have no one to blame but myself for all the cuts I had to make in the end.

I'm not quite relieved because next come the edits. *barf* While I don't envy the job of my advisor -- having to crawl through 62 pages of text -- when I remember that I will have to do the same thing later, with the added job of deciphering his decidedly illegible handwriting to figure out what I need to change, any sympathy kind of flies out the window. He should just make life easier for both of us and just approve it the way it is. :P

Still, one gigantic step is out of the way. Now to survive the rest of the semester.

Aww! I just got an email from my supervisor last year informing me that one of my former students wants to know how to get one of his prom pictures to me later in the year and if I'll be coming to his graduation.

Today I went and exchanged that expensive flat iron I got last February. I was all ready to make a stink if I had to, but I lucked out. Without any fuss, they still let me exchange instead of making me send it in to get repaired. Hopefully this one will last longer than one use. -_-;;

While I was at Ala Moana, I also got side-tracked at Old Navy by their fall sale. I bought a pair of jeans (for $7!) that desparately need to be hemmed and a short-sleeved turtleneck sweater shirt for $10. I might return the shirt. I'll mull it over for a bit, but as cute as it is, it's very winter-ish and thus not too wearable the whole year round.

Speaking of Old Navy, this is the first time I've bothered trying on their pants (I mostly just bought shirts from there), and now I understand the whole vanity sizing thing. No wonder the other pair of pants I got from Old Navy a while back is so huge. I just grabbed the size I usually wear for other brands.

Anyway, while I was at Old Navy, I saw that the double-breasted tan coat I was eyeing as a possible Senna jacket was also on sale. However, it's not as fitted as it needs to be so unfortunately I can't use it. :(

Hmm...what's good to bring to a potluck where you have no idea what everyone else is bringing? I need to show face at a get together I was invited to at work in an hour or so, but I don't know what I should bring.

Long story short: Hair One's not really worth the trip if you're looking for a wig. Best to just shop online, especially if you're weak against pushy salespeople.

I'm just totally blown away by the news of Robert Jordan's passing. It's so odd, but it feels like I've lost a friend.

Farewell, Robert Jordan. The world and story you created have brought me countless hours of joy, and you will be sorely missed.

DB released the Bleach movie! *does a little dance* Slowly but surely, it's making its way to my computer now. Hopefully I can get together with Chris soon and watch it and then I will finally be able to see Senna in action!

Maybe then I'll be inspired enough to finish up Mirokumaru and drag the costume out the closet for a photoshoot.

So. classes start today. Yay... *sarcasm sarcasm* This week is actually going to be a slow start as my 4:00 class today is cancelled because the professor's on a trip and I don't start going into my internship site until Thursday. Hopefully that'll give me a bit of time to rearrange my sleeping schedule and get back into the swing of things.

On the bright side, in a year from now, I will be done with the program (if all goes well). I don't want to say that I'll be done with school altogether, since I there's always the possibility that I might go back to get another Master's or a Doctorate, but at least I'll be done with school for a while. It'll be nice to only have to concentrate on one thing (work) as opposed to two (work, in the form of internship, and school).

The photoshoot today was fun. Nice and low key, and thanks to vraxx, I had some reference pictures on hand to use in figuring out poses. Thanks, ryusen and Wilson, for taking pictures and posing me so well and thanks to Zarcath for bringing his bass guitar for me to pose with. ^_^

My rings got some good feedback, so I'm really happy about that. Overall, I'm happy with the way they turned out. I just need to glue them a bit more securely.

I wouldn't mind doing this costume again. It's a fun one with minimal prep time. :) Can't wait to see the pictures!

Planning on wearing my Tommy heavenly6 "Heavy Starry Chain" cosplay on Saturday, provided I can finish everything by then. Here's where I'm at so far...

Finished
- wig (though I still need to try it on)
- jacket
- skirt (though it's ugly...I wonder if a circle skirt would have worked better)
- petti (already had my black pannier)
- white tights (I have white pantyhose)
- shoes
- lace gloves (though I might want to trim them a bit)

Still to do
- rings (currently at the painting stage)
- red ribbon (shouldn't take long at all, provided I don't make a really stupid cutting error)
- practice makeup
- lose 20 pounds (HA! Not gonna happen... Tommy is a freakin' stick!)
- buy apple

The rings aren't coming out as nice as I'd hoped, but still they're not as bad as I feared. I couldn't find a single package of model magic, so instead I went with "Hearty Super Lightweight Modeling Clay." It's very similar to model magic, but not quite the same. It was much more difficult to get this clay to smooth out and as it dried, the little fibers that it was made out of tended to get all over my hands. I have to say, though, it seems to dry faster than model magic does, so there is that plus to it.

I think I might have made my milk chocolate rings a bit too light in color. If there's time later, I might go back and fix it.

For the photgraphers planning on going on Saturday, would you be interested in seeing reference pictures so you can help me pose? :P

I know this was announced awhile ago, but I finally went to the Bleach movie site to see the update on the second movie. The full title is The DiamondDust Rebellion, with a subtitle of "One more Hyourinmaru." And of course, the most intruiguing part is the "Eliminate Hitsugaya Toushirou!" on the poster.

I'm hooked. I want to see it! Of course, if this past movie's timing is any indication, I'll have to wait more than a year for the DVD to come out. :(

Going off of Tiff's post...

I will not:

• Pander in order to get attention. I hate it when people do lascivious stuff like make out in the middle of a convention, do out of character yuri or yaoi poses, or alter a costume for the sole purpose of making it more sexy just so that people will take pictures of them or lavish them with attention.
  
• Cosplay without making some attempt on my hair. Bad hair can really kill a good costume. Even if I decide not to use a wig, I'd at least make an effort to style my hair like the character's.
  
• Expose too much skin. If I'm wearing less than I do when I'm swimming, that's too much exposed skin. Part of this has to do with my own self-consciousness (eg: I have a birthmark on my stomach so I don't like to expose too much middrift because of it), but part of it is because I really don't think anyone wants to see that.
  
• Crossplay as a manly man. The only guy I've thought of crossplaying as is Hunny from Ouran, and even then I don't know if I'd be able to pull it off. My face looks too much like a kid's in order to cosplay as a convincing guy.
  
• Cosplay a character I know absolutely nothing about. I actually kind of broke this already with the Agito cosplay, but cosplay is just too expensive to do a character that I might end up hating.
  

Hmm...I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of it right now.

I saw Chris' pictures and some of his video from AX last night and I have to say...I don't know if I really want to go to AX anymore.

There's just too much of waiting in lines. Waiting in line for pre-reg, waiting in line for the dealer's room, waiting in line to get tickets for a concert, waiting in line to get seats for the same concert, waiting in line to go into the masquerade... Maybe I'm just spoiled because I've never had to wait in a line at an anime convention before (^^;;;), but I'd much rather go to a large con like AWA where there are lots of things to do and see but there aren't so many people that your entire day is invested into waiting in line for two things.

So, there's finally a release date for the Bleach: Memories of Nobody DVD. It's Wednesday, September 5th, 2007. That's still a few months away. *dies*

In other news, there will also be a second Bleach movie in theatres this December. No further details have been announced.

Also Bleach related, I just noticed that on the Bleach "B" Station Second Season Vol. 2 CD, the first track is called, "ROMI PARK on the air ~ A confession of love to that person~" (あの人に愛の告白). If you didn't know, Park Romi is Hitsugaya's seiyuu. Suffice it to say that I'm intruigued...

(And it'll probably end up being something totally not what I'm hoping for... T-T)

Cool, Kuja and Zidane have voices now. I'm looking forward to this game, if only to hear voices for characters from games that had no voice acting. It looks like the closest thing to an FF fighting game that we'll get, but since I have no plans to get a PSP, I'll probably never be able to play it.
